Hacienda Sonora is located at the foot of Poás volcano. The farm runs on 100 percent renewable energy, generated by a hydroelectric generator that turns the rush of the rivers into energy. Energy powers the wet and dry mills and provides free electricity to all who live and work on the farm, has shared its success generously, paying fair wages to all workers and supporting the local community economy.
