On the battlefield the Ottoman Turks left behind after their retreat, in addition to cannons, camels, horses and gold; many sacks of coffee. <!--more-->The commanders of the victorious army not knowing what to do with those sacks gave them all to the Pole <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jerzy_Franciszek_Kulczycki\">Jerzy Franciszek Kulczycki<\/a>, who carried out espionage activities by trafficking with the Turks in <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Caff%C3%A8\">coffee<\/a> sacks, but actually providing the Polish command with news about the dislocation of Turkish troops and their movements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Battle of Vienna took place on September 11 and 12, 1683, and ended a two-month siege placed by the Turkish army on the city of Vienna.
