The Ngandu Wash Station is part of the Rutuma Amalgamated Farmer Cooperative Society (FCS) and is located in the famous Nyeri region of Kenya, where the rich volcanic soil and ideal weather conditions contribute to the unique and exceptional flavour profile that Kenya is known for.

This batch of AA Fully Washed coffee embodies everything we love about the region’s coffees.

The producer members grow primarily SL28, SL34, Batian and Ruiru 11 varieties. FCS promotes sustainability and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) among its members, encouraging cultivation with minimal environmental impact wherever possible.

The coffee cherries are carefully hand-picked by smallholder farmers at peak ripeness and delivered to the wash station for processing. The cherries are “Fully Washed”, which involves first sorting and then depulping to remove the outer skin. The parchment is then fermented in concrete tanks for 12-24 hours, depending on the temperature and weather conditions, to break down the mucilage. After fermentation, the grain is washed through roughing channels using fresh water from the Gatiba stream before being transferred to raised beds or covered solar dryers for drying. The drying process lasts 7 to 14 days.
